Imposing at the front, powerful at the rear, the BMW 7 Series Sedan is a vehicle that exudes confidence. The large kidney grilles emphasize the new BMW 7 Series' imposing presence while the striking shoulder line extends uninterrupted from bonnet to boot, making the car seem longer. The door handles are integrated seamlessly into this shoulder line, creating an inimitable effect even at night.
Generous space, precise elegance and charming functionality form the character of the BMW 7 Series Sedan. The interior's finish, including a wide range of high-class materials and a handcrafted look, conveys a new interpretation of inviting modernity. A particularly eye-catching feature of the cockpit is the instrument cluster with black panel technology - when not in use, the display is matt black, and it comes to life in several stages when the ignition is started. High-tech, special ceramic material is also offered as an option on selected control elements and switches.
No matter what speed you're travelling at or road surface you're driving on, you're guaranteed outstanding driving comfort in the BMW 7 Series Sedan. The new shock absorbers send information four hundred times a second to the Dynamic Damping Control system and are now infinitely and independently adjustable for both compression and rebound damping. This means that the dampers adapt to the state of the road irrespective of which Dynamic Driving Control mode is selected, for exceptional ride comfort even when driving hard on bumpy surfaces.
Only the tachometer will reveal how fast and seamlessly the new 8-speed automatic transmission Steptronic shifts gears. The additional gears reduce the engine's rev interval between shifts, so the transmission process is barely noticeable. The eighth gear reduces the number of revolutions at high speeds, tangibly increasing comfort while reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
The perfectly-spaced gear ratios of the responsive six-speed automatic transmission Steptronic ensure that the vast power of the BMW 7 Series engine is transmitted to the drive wheels with maximum efficiency. A newly developed control shifts gears faster, and when the driver kicks down the accelerator, the automatic transmission will shift back immediately by up to four gears. Minimum converter slip and exact selection of gears increases spontaneity and efficiency and the gears can be shifted manually thanks to the electronic gear selector lever
To ensure that the superior driving dynamics of the BMW 740d and 750i remain constant on every surface, the intelligent all-wheel drive system xDrive distributes engine power variably to both axles as the situation requires. The system allows the driver to enjoy the full power and agility of the vehicle by providing noticeably more traction on every surface. Whether you are on a winding road, attempting a hill start or tackling slippery surfaces, optimal traction is guaranteed.
The optional Integral Active Steering system which varies the steering angle of the rear wheels increases safety, stability and comfort to particularly benefit rear-seat passengers. At higher speeds Integral Active Steering ensures extremely comfortable and superior response on the road when changing lanes and in bends. At low speeds the car's turning circle is decreased to significantly enhance agility and nimble performance. In addition to the enhancement of stability in quick direction changes, Active Steering also ensures even greater superiority and better handling in brake manoeuvres.
Stable and smooth. Light and strong. These are the requirements of a BMW 7 Series chassis. Requirements the double-arm front axle meets with ease. The dampers are able to respond with supreme smoothness while the light aluminium structure reduces weight and increases stability. Precise steering and maximum tyre grip on all road surfaces make driving manoeuvres a pleasure for all passengers.
Delivering unrivalled driving dynamics with unparalleled comfort, the patented integral V rear axle has been specially developed for the BMW 7 Series. Dynamic and drive forces acting on the wheel suspension are taken up by the wheel mounts, the rear axle subframe, the swinging arm and three track control arms. The BMW 7 Series long version also boasts self-levelling air suspension at the rear to ensure that the vehicle offers a consistent ride height and maximum comfort.
